Scott Allan reflected on Pompey’s Boxing Day defeat by Crawley and insisted: We didn’t deserve anything.
The Scottish loanee felt his side didn’t warrant a return from the game as they went down to a 2-1 loss at Fratton Park
That made it an awful run of 11 games without a win, after a promising three game unbeaten period going into the festive fixture.
Defensive deficiencies again reared their head as Pompey shipped from set-pieces.
And, despite getting themselves into promising positions throughout the game, the Blues failed to capitalise by carving out clear chances.
Allan was himself unhappy with the standard of his deliveries from set-pieces in testing conditions.
The 21-year-old refused to use the rain and heavy pitch as an excuse for either himself or his team, however.
Allan knows the outfit he is on loan at from West Brom have to cut out the mistakes which have been so costly this season.
He said: ‘It’s just very frustrating after getting the early goal.
‘It’s disappointing there were two goals from set-pieces, too.
‘There wasn’t much in the game before that.
‘It’s happened that we’ve given goals away like that before. To be blunt, we need to put an end to it. We’re giving these easy goals.
‘I thought we needed more quality in the final third. I don’t think we did enough to get anything.
‘The pitch wasn’t the best and nor were the conditions – but we need to look at ourselves.
‘I hit a few terrible free-kicks in the weather but we need to do better going forward. It’s the same for both teams.’
Speculation remains about the future of most of the Pompey players who are on month-to-month deals.
Allan is on loan from West Brom with his deal running until Friday, January 4.
He has already been linked with a reunion with Michael Appleton at Blackpool in 2013.
Allan, however, remained coy about the prospect of extending his Fratton Park deal beyond the existing agreement.
The creative midfielder spoke of the affinity he has with the club has now made 21 appearances for.
He promised he remains as committed as ever to improving Pompey’s fortunes.
And he promised, regardless of what happens moving forward, he is not thinking of a quick getaway.
Allan said: ‘I’m taking every game as it comes. Hopefully we can get a few points for the club and do well.
‘That’s what is important. I’m fond of the place after coming here last year. I’ve been here longer than any other club.
‘It means as much to me as to the players who are already here on month-to-month deals.
‘I need to take care of myself. If things fall into place with my parent club you never know what could happen.
‘I’m here until January 4 and then it’s about seeing what happens.
‘I just want to do my best for this club. Whatever happens happens.
‘I’ve got a job to do here.’
