Frankie Sutherland has been called up to the Republic of Ireland under-21 squad.

The Pompey midfielder, who joined the club on loan from QPR last week, has been picked for the forthcoming international friendly against Holland.

Republic under-19 coach Noel King has seen enough of the midfield talent to draft him into the squad for the clash at the Tallaght Stadium in Dublin on Wednesday, February 6 (1pm).

Pompey fans have yet to see the 19-year-old in action, though, as freezing weather conditions have decimated their January fixture list.

Sutherland was in the Blues squad for the clash with Scunthorpe on Saturday but heavy snow put paid to a potential debut.

The Rs teenager is on a month-long loan at Fratton Park.

Meanwhile, Mustapha Dumbuya has penned a six-month deal to join Pompey’s League One rivals Crawley.

Dumbuya’s contract at the Blues was not renewed this month and he was a free agent.
