Andronikou asks for council funds to help Pompey
ANDREW Andronikou has asked Portsmouth City Council if it could contribute funds to help Pompey.
At a meeting with council leader, Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson, and council chief executive David Williams, the Convers Sports Initiatives administrator raised the subject of whether the local authority could directly assist the embattled football club.
The men met at the Marriott hotel, in North Harbour, on Friday at Mr Andronikou’s request so he could provide an update on the administration of CSI and its effect on Pompey.
The meeting came as Cllr Vernon-Jackson said he would write to Prime Minister David Cameron to ask that HMRC’s winding-up petition be withdrawn.
He said: ‘We were talking about what is going on in terms of the administration of CSI.
‘Mr Andronikou is clearly not happy to be having to do this work again.
‘His inevitable question was “would the council put in money?” and I said no; the council doesn’t have any money.’
He added: ‘His job is to be working in the interests of the creditors and our interest is in safeguarding the football club and those two interests are not always the same thing.
‘What I’m absolutely convinced of is that David Lampitt and the people at the football club are working as hard as possible to try to find a long-term solution for the football club.’
Cllr Vernon-Jackson said that he also felt the Prime Minister should follow through on his words last week in the House of Commons, when he told Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt he would try and help the club.
‘I think it is important that if the Prime Minister offers help that action follows that,’ he said.
‘He is the head of the government and HMRC is a branch of that government.
‘So if he tells them to withdraw their winding-up petition them presumably they have to do what they are told.
‘It would give Pompey more time and it would be the right thing to do, because we are not in this situation because of anything the club has done.
‘This is down to its parent company and is different than last time.’
Following a News-backed meeting of fans and city leaders two weeks ago, the CSI administrator has now agreed to meet fans’ groups trying to save the club, but no date has yet been set for this to take place.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 06:21 AM@256 cjinrak - I am in total agreement with you, I am inclined to agree that this is the more obvious scenario .. Why else would everything need to be changed through various offshore company's such as portpin, falcondrone, then a new company pfc2010 created?? .. Another FACT that I stress time and time again is Peter Sottieteller was the ceo of Pompey at this time, he found BC, he was also part of the Al - Mirage consortium, they bought 90% of SAF's holding as they knew he would default, and wih who's money? .. you can make your own conclusion's on what influence and knowledge he had on the whole scam ..

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 08:56 PMHello oldredeye, are you on board with the trust or influential in any way? The email I sent was merely my role as an introducer in this scenario, and to give you an idea of the quality of investors already on board in that particular business model. The individual I know represent's this company and is willing to offer he's vast financial expertise and this 'potential revenue stream' to the trust. It can also include a share option, and again 'potentially' be worth millions to the trust and therefore the club. All that is required is the will to meet??

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 08:08 PMFatcatpat: Don't come on here talking sense - it really isn't worth the effort! For some, if they've read an opinion on the internet or heard some rumours at the pub, that's fact as far as they're concerned.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 07:48 PM@246 Company owners can do a lot of that sort of thing perfectly legally. Don't forget we only see part of it from the outside. If it survived HMRC looking at it during the CVA, you are not going very far in challenging it now.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 07:43 PMMattyC - I know a few people (not on here I don't think) who would be perfectly capable of bi passing this with some basic hacking. On the other hand, it could be something as simple as hitting the space bar a few times and add a character at the end of the login name that would not be seen when the post is showing. Only guessing obviously, as I don't have a clue myself and haven't tried it. But I stand by my theory, based on observations.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 07:43 PMMiraw, I hear what you are saying but the problem is that for you and I it is impossible toi use a duplicate user name - try it and it tells you the name is in use...... So whoever it is, and I am pretty sure I know, they have to have access to the inner workings of the site....... and it does happen a lot in the evenings and weekends when lots of moderation is also happening!!! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 07:22 PMoldredeye - the majority of friends and colleagues who count themselves as Pompey fans are already see Plan B as the only option to rid ourselves of the vermin. Days ago, the conversation moved from 'what if' to more practical discussion regarding possible interim football grounds (eg H&W, US Portsmouth, Alexandra stadium with temporary stands), what league we'd start i and the name of the new club - eg Portsmouuth City FC, AFC Portsmouth, Portsmouth FC (2012) etc. I feel a lot of fans are already in that mindset. Unless there is a radical change of thinking by UHY, some miraculous injection of funds by BC or a more realistic asking price, then Plan B it will have to be.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 06:53 PM243 FatCat Stop the straw soldiers. You are responding to points I did not make. If you must persevere with trying to legitimise fraud against PFC, answer the points I did make please. Chanrai lent money to Chanrai, but laid the debt on PFC. Chanrai used a convicted fraudster and a disgraced lawyer to take money out of PFC. Chanrai used the same pair to re-structure the finances so that the imaginary 17m now gave him secured creditor status. Chanrai then used this status to ensure that the administration (with his administrator) and the cva cut out genuine creditors and secured a NEW 17m for him (remember he never let go of 17m in the first place).

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 06:46 PMLewDevonPFC - Someone anonymously contacted the Trust with a puzzling offer for some carribean Timeshares? Forgive me but we aren't getting involved in schemes like that, especiallly fronted by Scummer Townsend. As for a share scheme through a CIC, of course we have considered that, we've considered almost everything, but any significant fundraising wil have to be timed right and be setup properly.
