Appleton: I’ve never seen support like that

Pompey manager Michael Appleton

Pompey manager Michael Appleton

Michael Appleton paid tribute to Pompey’s supporters after their amazing show of force at Blackpool.

Appleton admitted he had never seen anything like the backing his men were given by the blue army at Bloomfield Road tonight.

The 1,500 travelling fans delivered a passionate display from start to finish in the Sky-televised 1-1 draw.

They also undertook a ‘protest Poznan’ at the start of the second-half when they turned their back on play for two minutes and sung ‘Michael Appleton’s blue and white army’.

That was to highlight the club’s troubles and deliver a show of unity in front of the watching television cameras.

Appleton, quite simply, was blown away by their backing.

He said: ‘What can you say? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that.

‘They have travelled all the way up here and supported us like that.

‘That shows you how much they are behind this club.

‘They are going to be crucial to us in the coming weeks.’

What is happening to the poster MattyC? My good Lady Wife thinks he has a split personally. We wonder which one will turn up today.

Good morning alfonso and all fellow supporters. I think you are missing the point my good lady Wife was making. By selling the recording of the match it would be a way of football supporters worldwide to say we support you and this is our contribution to your fighting fund. The fact that the Pompey supporters are attracting such attention at this moment as we need to raise the profile and this could be one way!

Think MattyC has had his identity stolen by a scu--er as I don't think he would come out with a statement as stupid as that.

It is now down to 7 days before the winding up hearing. We still have not heard from the management or anything useful from anyone else really. Please. please let the fans know something - we are talking Pompey here not national security or MI5!!! PUP

To be fair to deliverance 1500 is a pathetic number of supporters. I watched the game on Sky and couldn't hear the pompey supporters. The whole turning their backs stunt was just embarrassing and will make us a laughing stock. I'm not holding much hope out for 'pack the park'. I would be suprised if more than 15,000 turn up.

Lol you poor Stain post 67 still out. Have you not heard of an iPhone. Why have you chosen the real Deliverances name to impersonate. Did he upset you once? Why don't you lay down on my couch and tell me why you have all this bitterness and frustration? Did your daddy not allow you to dress up when you were a child in girlies clothes. Now get it all of your little chest. I'm sorry if I got to you last time. There's a good lad try to think a little more positively as your in a real mans forum now. I suggest you close the door on our forum and trot off to your one down the road. Now I have a glass with my name on it so must go. Have a good night. Bless....
