Appy: We’re up for the fight ahead
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway
Pompey are ready to show the nation they are up for the fight at Blackpool tomorrow.
Blues boss Michael Appleton has issued the rallying cry to his troops ahead of the televised tea-time trip to Bloomfield Road (5.20pm kick-off), with the club’s financial woes seemingly set to plunge them into administration.
While Appleton has braced himself for what comes his way, he believes the players are focused on football and ready to stand up to the latest episode of the crisis against Ian Holloway’s men.
He said: ‘With the game being on Sky, it’s an opportunity to put all of the worries behind us, show the country that we are united and, whatever happens or whatever gets thrown at us over the next couple of months, show everyone that we are ready for a fight.
‘I looked all of the players in the eyes in the dressing room before training and probably got a bit aggressive myself.
‘I’m certainly ready for a fight and I hope they all are, too.’
Appleton has already shown he has the stomach for a battle and has warned not to underestimate his men.
He said: ‘People will look at their betting coupon and think it will be a nice home win. We certainly don’t see it that way.
‘Birmingham were on fine form and Blackpool are the same.
‘But I’ve been looking at the stats and it’s incredible the number of games that they win in the last 10 minutes.
‘On the flip side to that, we have to look at the amount of goals that we’ve conceded in the last 10 minutes of games recently.
‘At the minute, everybody seems to be here for the fight.’

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 08:47 AMEastmidsblue - I do actually think a show of strength by the Pompey faithful is due now to show the 'money men' how importan we are and not only that show them that we are serious about making a success from a plan B if they keep suffocating the club. Plan B will work with enough support (which I think there is) but I would rather the pawnbrokers running the club just cut their profits and moved on. If they dont I would actually support a boycott, it would be a bit like euthanasia but would be best for all in the long run..

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 09:15 PMHow many times has Andronikou used the phrase 'speaking to a number of interested parties' and yet still there is nothing on the horizon. I recall it wasn't long ago we were to have been sold by the end of the week. Andronikou doesn't have to name names, but why doesn't he tell us how many people, groups, consortiums he is 'actutally' in contact with and having meaningful dialogue with? Is that too much to ask? At least give the fans something to hold on to. The light at the end of the tunnel may still be dim, but at least it might still be there! Give us something tangible to believe in Mr Andronikou, none I this political carp you keep spouting, or tell us outright that you are Chainrai's henchman as most think you are? Just put it out there, black is black, white is white, stop with the wishy washy grey (rap.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 04:52 PMChunky 39 was 37 Post 41 I posted something along these lines earlier today, but somehow it never got onto the website. It went along the lines of :- We have all seen the quotes "If Portsmouth FC was any other type of business, it would have been wrapped up a long time ago". Well look at this from another standpoint, If Portsmouth FC was any other type of business and it treated it's customers anything like they do, then these customers would have already found themselves another supplier. Rather that the "Pack the Park" campaign, do you believe that a boycott of Fratton Park might at least give us some form of conclusion.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 02:52 PMTiger - 33 & 34 - Who do you think are the biggest financial contributors to the club? No, not BC, no certainly not AA or DL or even the FL..... yes, you've got it its the paying supporters!! No supporters, no club, simple. So why would AA and DL be wasting their time talking to them? I really do not understand your scathing disrespect for the most important stakeholders in the club.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 02:22 PMHello all,yes I am attending the game tomorrow, and really looking forward to it,but this might give the whole pompey issue a chance to see what kind of club pompey are etc. We have the most passionate fans on this planet, and everyone one knows that etc. We have a good home support,a football mad city,if the powers that be do want to shut down pompey,do the powers that be realise where would say 13000,to say 15000 pompey fans go and watch football would we play our games in the non league and would we play our home games at fratton park etc and what away grounds in the non league could accomodate the vast pompey away support etc has anyone thought about that issue etc it does make me wonder etc. Anyway time will tell I do hope somebody out there does buy the club and see the true potential of this sleeping giant as I say before and again etc,a catchment area of 400,000 people and a guarantee home support of over 13,000 if not more etc,its there for the taking and if someone very soon does purchase the club and do the right issues with the club they will make it big again and create employment etc, revamp the stadium etc and that is what we all want etc so someone please come in asap etc and sort this club out we deserve it,shut the club down etc and again where will all those pompey fans go and watch football etc, bums on seats etc, that is money in my book and business to etc as I said before a good home support base etc and catchment area it will increase the home support if the right person comes in and sorts out pompey the club by far the most superior club on the south coast and we all no it so anyone out there come and buy the club and do what has to be done etc and reap the rewards when all the hard work is done etc if I had the monet I would do it come hell or high water thanks all fratton,I do hope we will all get a result at Blackpool tomorrow etc ok people buy for now.Thank you Fratton

BC we Trust pardon the pun
Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:37 AMimposter quite right, admin if happening will be last resort last minute action and certainly not likely when if money for wages is alloted and HMRC are being partially paid and delayed and a little help from FL and BC, time to calm down let DL do his work and AA not have them wasting hours days weeks pampering fans and press
BC we Trust pardon the pun
Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:35 AMas i have said earlier. DL and or AA and or BC for different reasons will be saving the club. there will be no plan B or C. expect the wages sorted and HMRC and interim payment and or the action withdrawn. AA for his part only remit is save the club as a going concern at all costs if he can and worst case lose some points, but he will be trying to preserve the MA chance to get into the top 6 as would BC. AA and DL certainly should not be allotting time to the media and fans when they should be focused raising money and supporting the cause. i remain hopeful half full and fully hope and expect unbeaten til end march or maximum efforts from MA and team and club, on and up. there is no need panic and infighting and thinkin ipswich is last home game, if u think u can be a better person than AA to do his job or DL please take the exams get the experience and put urself forward else shut up. Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:25 AMI'm willing to play for the team, but I will need a couple of months to get fit. I would play for nothing, just for the love of my (our) team. PuP.
