Belhadj eyes Fratton exit
Nadir Belhadj wants to quit Pompey.
The Algerian international has declared his intention to leave Fratton Park when the transfer window opens in 24 days time.
Belhadj is disillusioned at his lack of regular first-team football this season.
The 27-year-old has started only two of the Blues' last 11 matches, both of which have come in the Carling Cup.
During that period he has also appeared as a substitute on only two occasions.
That lack of pitch time has convinced Belhadj he must next month look elsewhere to play his football.
The former Lens man is also keen for regular action with the World Cup finals coming up next summer, with Algeria involved.
And he is prepared to end his 15-month south-coast stay to achieve that.
He told Algerian magazine Le Buteur: 'While the players who go into World Cup play, I am confined to the bench and this does not suit me.
'I do not want to get to go to the World Cup without competition in my legs.
'So my sporting interests command me to go and look for playing time at another club.
'In the transfer window I will quit Portsmouth to join a club where they will trust me.
'I do not know where, but I know I want a change.'
Belhadj has made 51 appearances and scored two goals since initially landing at Fratton Park on loan in August 2008.
His temporary spell was made permanent four months later for a fee of 4.4m after some eye-catching Pompey displays.
However, his weakness for defending has seen him lose his left-back spot, first to Tal Ben-Haim and then Hermann Hreidarsson.
