Big Sam could be man for Pompey
Sam Allardyce has emerged as one of the leading contender to become Pompey's new manager as the club bid to cope with life after Harry Redknapp.
The former Bolton boss is the early favourite to become the next Blues boss following Redknapp's Spurs defection.
Allardyce has been out of work since being sacked from Newcastle last season and is thought to be interested in taking the Fratton Park post.
The 54-year-old fits the mould for a potential successor to Redknapp having helped Bolton punch above their weight for many years in the top flight.

However, Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie has insisted work on finding the successor had yet to get underway.
In the meantime, Tony Adams and Joe Jordan yesterday took temporary charge and guided Pompey to a 1-1 draw with Fulham.
Only a Clint Dempsey goal three minutes from time prevented them from capping the occasion with a victory, following Peter Crouch's earlier strike.
Storrie has announced the pair will be at the helm for the 'foreseeable future', with Adams – recently linked with Ipswich – already a popular choice among many Blues fans.
Both Adams and Jordan were gagged by the club from talking about their interest in the position long-term after yesterday's game.
But despite the speculation, Storrie was adamant moves for Redknapp's replacement had yet to get under way.
He said: 'Tony is assistant manager and Joe is first-team coach and that's how it is. They work together and will be in charge for the foreseeable future.
'A new manager has not been discussed. My concern from 9.30pm on Saturday night was getting hold of Tony and Joe and their concern was getting the team right for yesterday.
'That's all we talked about and concentrated on.
'The new boss will eventually be decided by myself and Sacha, effectively upon my recommendation. Sacha would leave it to my recommendation.
'I have already had 84,000 texts with names of everyone from here, there or wherever.
'We've had quite a few phone calls, too.
'It's early days but we will have a lot of discussion about it.'
Avram Grant is another who has emerged as a contender.
A former Pompey technical director and friends with Sacha Gaydamak, he could be another option.
Others linked are Alan Curbishley, Neil Warnock and John Collins, while Graeme Souness was spotted at yesterday's game.
When asked about whether he would like the job permanently in the post-match press confidence, Pompey coach Jordan said: 'I am here to answer questions on the football.'
Meanwhile, Adams admitted he had been instructed not to speak.
