David Nugent
The England striker ended a long-running pursuit by Harry Redknapp last summer when he finally agreed to join Pompey's European bid.
His arrival from Preston had cost the Blues 6m as they successfully fought off interest from Sunderland for a 23-year-old regarded as one of the best young strikers in the country.
Unfortunately, the form of Kanu, ex-Pompey star Benjani Mwaruari and Defoe have restricted his appearances to occasional entrances from the substitute's bench, but Nugent has still managed to find the net in cup competitions and is itching for a regular run out to prove his Premier League worth.
Although there's much speculation linking him with a move back to the Championship, Nugent is determined to prove he can cut it at the top level.
