Dindane: That's just for starters
Rejuvenated Aruna Dindane celebrated breaking his Premier League duck and vowed: There's more to come.
Dindane was the hat-trick hero as Pompey kick-started their campaign with a 4-0 demolition of Wigan on Saturday.
It was a performance stacked full of positives as Paul Hart's side racked up the club's biggest league win in five-and-a-half years at Fratton Park.
The win, with Frederic Piquionne getting the other goal, saw the Blues break their home league duck at the sixth time of asking.
And it made it three clean sheets on the bounce, with four coming in the past five games.
Dindane's triple salvo saw him become the first Pompey player to score a hat-trick since Benjani against Derby 22 months ago.
The 28-year-old silenced his doubters after going four league games without scoring since arriving on loan from Lens in the summer.
And he promised there would be more goals to follow with his confidence brimming.
Dindane said: 'Of course I'm delighted to have scored.
'It's my first hat-trick in England, so it's special for me.
'It's good for a striker to score. It's good to score.
'Now, I hope to do the same in the next game.
'I feel happy, I've scored three.
'I've been working hard since I came here and I'm pleased that I've scored for my confidence.
'I'm in the team, I'm happy and I'm confident.'
Hart, below left, kept faith in Dindane despite his barren run, with Tommy Smith making way for Piquionne against Roberto Martinez's side.
The Blues manager stated he never lost confidence in the Ivory Coast hitman, with his displays so far showing promise.
Hart said: 'His performance was just the same, but this time he has turned that into goals.
'You could see his reaction. He was desperate to score, but strikers are.'
Confidence is now flowing through the Pompey ranks after this latest success.
Despite that, they still remain bottom of the Premier League table.
Hart is not getting carried away with the upturn in his team's fortunes.
He said: 'We can't start ramming words down anyone's throats just yet.
'I wouldn't want to throw anything back in anyone's face anyway – I'm not really like that.
'I've got hungry players who want to get into the side and I've also got players who want to keep the shirt.
'That's a good position to be in.'
