Fans' delight at Linvoy return

It's the sight we had wanted to see for so long – Linvoy Primus wearing the star and crescent again at Fratton Park.

And last night, the long wait was ended as the lovable defender tasted first-team action for the first time in two years.

Primus came on as a 90th-minute replacement for Peter Crouch and received rapturous applause.

Despite his late entrance, he had a few touches of the ball, too – much to the delight of the Fratton faithful.

Blues fan Ryan O'Neal, from Copnor, who was at the game last night, said: 'It was absolute fantastic to see Linvoy playing for the Blues again.

'There had been a bit of pressure on Paul Hart to play him so fair play for sending him on.'

Janet Martin, from Gosport, added: 'If Linvoy never plays for us again, at least he was given that moment for us to show him just how much we love him.

'It was a brilliant reception – but you'd expect nothing else from Pompey fans, would you?'

Farlington's Ashley Badger wanted to see Primus again, though.

He said: 'We're safe now, so give him a starting spot at Wigan. I'd go up there for that.'
