Greg Halford applauded Pompey’s ‘special’ fans after their Bloomfield Road wonder show.
Around 1,400 packed the away section and did the club proud with tremendous backing.
A two-minute Poznan was staged in protest at those who have taken the club to the brink of another administration.
Halford, skipper Liam Lawrence and six of their Blues team-mates threw their shirts to the away fans at the final whistle.
Stephen Henderson hurled his goalkeeping gloves.
It was a fantastic gesture from the players who continue to give full commitment despite not being paid.
Halford was quick to pay tribute to the support, saying: ‘The fans were very special.
‘The players giving our shirts away was a goodwill gesture to all those who went.
‘The lads realised the effort that had gone into travelling and we appreciated it. The players are so grateful.’
Halford said the Poznan protest sent a vital message.
‘I knew the protest wasn’t against the players and I could hear the chanting after they did it,’ he said.
‘The fact the match was also being televised will publicise it.
‘Every little helps in getting a new owner and obviously the fans’ passion will help get the message across.’

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 07:10 PMGH's right and the scummers aren't a patch on us when it comes to support. What I don't understand that despite our bestest efforts to help highlight the problems at the club (the conga was particularly noteworthy and very funny), there is still no-one interested? We've been fishing for an investor for ages to take this great club over but we've not had one serious bite as of yet. I do believe Lampitt is doing his best but is hamstrung by ChainraiAA. I wonder if we will see any new faces on the pitch tomorrow for the game. We need an emergency loan or two

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 01:35 PMOn another topic, but did anyone notice on the Football League highlights programme the BBC showed the team sheet at the beginning and our Manager was still a certain Steve Cotterill. Just goes to show how much interest they have in our club doesn't it.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 12:32 PMdoesn't have quite the same effect, when everyone has their neck craned round still watching the game, never mind it could have looked great but was just embarrassing.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 12:16 PMThe "Poznan" basically came about from fan's turning their back's on modern day football. (as in post 4) The City fan's liked what they saw and used it celebrate every time they scored.

Monday, February 13, 2012 at 12:03 PMFrom wikipedia: Another craze that [Manchester] City supporters decided to implement in England is a celebration or dance that has been given the nickname of 'The Poznan'. It first started on the 21 October 2010 in a game against Lech Poznań in the Europa League, during the game the whole of the Poznan end turned their back to the pitch, joined arms and jumped up and down in unison. Many City supporters were inspired and since this game a large number of City supporters have celebrated every goal scored by doing this or initiated the craze by chanting "Let's all do the Poznan".[29] with the City supporters refusing to claim the celebration as their own, and simply named it 'The Poznan' in honour of the club that awakened the City supporters to the celebration.
