SUPPORT Pompey fans are urged to get to Fratton Park

POMPEY’S clash with Hull City may have fallen victim to the weather – but fans are urged to Pack the Park for Tuesday’s match against Ipswich Town.

Manager Michael Appleton revealed on Thursday he was ‘braced for administration’ as the club’s winding-up hearing over unpaid tax on February 20 draws closer.

But supporters say they are ready to show they can be Pompey’s 12th man on Tuesday night.

Fan Mark Mudie said the club’s loyal followers must unite and fight for the club’s future.

He said: ‘It’s about the fans showing the trust the players gave to us. They had a chance to move away last month but they decided they wanted to fight for the club. It would be nice for the fans to respond to that.

‘It would be nice to unite and show the world we are together on this.

‘If we can pack the park on Tuesday, it will go a long way to paying the bills.’

Campaign group SOS Pompey launched the Love Pompey initiative ahead of the Ipswich Town fixture, which falls on Valentine’s Day. It urges fans to express their passion for the team and the city by attending the game.

SOS Pompey’s Brendon Bone said: ‘We need to get in there and make a noise to show that we are still alive and kicking despite what’s going on behind the scenes.

‘The players and staff have gone without pay and it’s the duty of the fans to show how important they are to us.’

Pompey have waived a £2 admin charge for tickets bought on the evening of the game.

'Mile-ender' well said. I think most people would agree with you, At least it gives the club more time and a chance to find maybe a new owner if thats possible considering our predicament but stay as PFC for the foreseeable future. But a win tonight would be one more step towards avoiding relegation this season depending on the points deduction and offcourse will bring in much needed funds for the club. A good crowd tonight would be fantastic. ipswich are in great form so it won't be an easy game. 2-1 to the blues.

Bluelagoon - i dont know why you are pushing this idea of a boycott its an idiotic idea that just hurts the club, the one who you are supposed to support. Much better to get a full house and get behind the players. Why you so keen on Plan B? Non-League football with crowds of 2500 at some minor ground in the city (no Fratton Park), no quality players and visiting places like Tonbridge Angels, Welling & Borehamwood!!! Much better to try and save the club as it is (warts & all) and slowly change it .......i think most fans want this not the pale shadow of Pompey that is Plan B. Dont get me wrong i will be one of the 2500 but all the Johnny Come Latelys will go plus a good percentage of the current hardcore following. Ive treked around the 4th Div (as was) grounds with Pompey and dont fancy that idea of treking around non-league grounds.

Well yes, some people are urging fans to Pack the Park (a News campaign which helps to sell the paper). But others are urging fans to boycott. This latter of course isn't mentioned in the News' report. Doesn't fit in. Spoils the cozy feeling. Not that I'm for a boycott. But I am for honest reporting.
