GALLERY: We need to forget Manchester mauling

Hassan Yebda told Pompey: Forget the Manchester United massacre.

The Algerian is urging his team-mates to put Saturday's 5-0 hammering at Old Trafford firmly behind them.

Avram Grant's men had no answer to the might of Sir Alex Ferguson's side who put the basement boys to the sword in emphatic style.

Yebda admitted his team got what they deserved, but now have to forget the display and focus on tomorrow's clash against Sunderland.

He said: 'It was very disappointing to lose the game

'Manchester United deserved to win the match.

'We have to forget this match now and concentrate on what is coming up next against Sunderland.

'Some of the goals were deflections, but football is like this.

'We know we have to show better concentration in the next game.

'We were in the game for 40 minutes.

'Maybe we didn't play as well as we could but it was still close at the start.

'But then the way Manchester United played was unbelievable.

'We defended well for some of the game, but after they got their first goal it was very difficult for us.'

Yebda returned to the fray after duty at the Africa Cup of Nations for his country.

Algeria made it to the semi-final stage before being thumped by Egypt.

Now the World Cup is on the horizon for the 25-year-old in South Africa.

Yebda promised that occasion is not on his mind at present however, and he is focussing on getting Pompey out of trouble.

He said: 'We have something to do here.

'I am not thinking about the World Cup.

'People don't know about Algeria but we will be doing everything to win games in the summer.

'But now I'm concentrating on Portsmouth.

'I don't think about anything else.'
