Grant: FA fine will not stop me fighting for Blues
Avram Grant reflected on his FA carpeting and insisted: I'll still show my passion.
The Pompey boss was last week fined 1,000 by the FA after his broadside at referee Kevin Friend in the win over Sunderland last month.
Grant approached Friend at half-time in the game to make his feelings known about his performance.
That saw him hit with an improper conduct charge and fined, with a further 4,000 suspended until the end of the season.
Grant has won over Pompey fans, wearing his heart on his sleeve and showing commitment to the club through their troubles.
The 54-year-old promised that won't change in the wake of the incident.
Grant said: 'I didn't use bad words. I told him my opinion.
'They said I shouldn't do it on the pitch. I accept that but I'm fighting for this club.
'Everyone knows the situation. Football is not just a game of money, it's a game of passion from the heart.
'The supporters do not deserve what has happened.
'They deserve someone to fight for them. I'm trying.'
Grant believes Pompey have found themselves the victims of some poor decisions since he succeeded Paul Hart in November.
That has cost them some critical points in their effort to remain in the Premier League.
The Israeli believes it could be time for referees to receive some more support in an effort for them to come to correct decisions.
He pointed to other successful rule changes down the years as evidence that game can evolve successfully.
Grant believes the fourth official can assume a more hands-on approach in helping the man in the middle.
He said: 'I think the rules have changed over the years and that has helped the game.
'The red card for a professional foul and goalkeepers picking up the ball. There are spaces for more rule changes to help the game.
'I don't always know what the fourth official is doing. I know what he is suppose to be doing.
'I think the ref helps him, he says he is speaking with him. That's good.
'But the game is so fast. We see a lot of mistakes.
'We have been the victim of many mistakes over the past two months.
'They have gone against us.
'So I think that the fourth official can be more involved than he is.
'Sometimes it's difficult for the referee to see everything.'
