Grant's disappointment at flat Pompey

Avram Grant admitted his frustration at Pompey's below-par loss to Birmingham.

The Blues manager spoke of the lack of energy his team showed as they fell to a 2-1 loss to Alex McLeish's side tonight.

The result came a little over 72 hours after Saturday's FA Cup win over the same outfit.

Grant admitted the uncertainty surrounding the club did not help his team's situation.

But he thought a lack of vigour about Pompey's play was the reason for the loss.

Grant said: 'It was disappointing.

'We have been playing well, but there was not the energy.

'We had a lot of the ball but not the tempo. Then they scored from their first attack.

'When they scored we did not respond well.

'We wanted to win, like we always do.

'When you have a target it's not always easy, but with our situation it is much harder.'
