Hermann Hreidarsson
Iceland's player of the year was one of Harry Redknapp's nine recruits during a busy summer spending spree at the start of last season.
An experienced Premier League campaigner, the 34-year-old spent four years as a Charlton regular before their relegation forced him to look elsewhere for top-flight football.
A true competitor who relishes a tackle, Hreidarsson's versatility means he can also operate in the centre of defence while he is capable of weighing in with the odd goal.
Last season he surprised many with his athletic performances, managing to score three goals, and showing his attacking nature as a full-back.
He was a key part of Pompey's impressive defence last season.
