Hero Primus to get new Pompey deal
Linvoy Primus is on the verge of being rewarded with a new Pompey contract.
The fans' favourite's current deal expires at the end of the season.
But the popular defender could see his nine-year stay at Fratton Park extended beyond the current campaign, paving the way for a much-deserved testimonial.
The 35-year-old has made no secret of his desire to stay with the Blues and last week joked to The News he would even work in the ticket office if it meant prolonging his Fratton Park love affair.
News a new one-year contract, with the option of a further extension at the end of the 2010-11 season, is being finalised will provide the defender with a welcome boost.
Primus was considering retiring at the end of his current deal, having failed to make it into the Pompey first team this season and being loaned out to Champion-ship outfit Charlton.
But with the prospect of a testimonial on the cards following what will be 10 years of loyal service – the minimum requirement for such a send-off, Storrie is confident Primus will accept.
'There's a bit of a technicality here in terms of a testimonial,' said Storrie.
'He needs to do one year next season and two months, so we're talking about giving him another year.
'But whether that will do him we'll have to wait and see.
'We'll have to maybe give him a year's contract and then a month-to-month contract.
'But if anybody deserves a testimonial it's Linvoy.'
Storrie is also open to the possibility of offering Primus a role with the club when he does finally hang up his boots.
'I think we need to do something,' he said.
'Whether Linvoy could act as an ambassador or whatever it takes to be involved in the club.
'I think he would be ideal for that role.'
