Kanu: We must show belief at Anfield

Kanu has dismissed the Anfield fear factor and urged Pompey to believe they can triumph at Liverpool.

Avram Grant's men travel to the Reds on Monday for a televised clash.

The tough fixture comes on the back of a tired midweek defeat to Birmingham which all but sealed relegation.

As it stands, there are 10 Premier League games left for the Blues before the likelihood of Championship football beckons.

Not that the players are giving up, with skipper David James still adamant they have every hope of surviving.

Pompey will meet a Liverpool side still stinging from a shock defeat at Wigan earlier this week.

Rafa Benitez afterwards criticised his players' attitude in the hope of sparking a backlash.

The Reds have also lost just one of their past 11 Anfield matches in the Premier League.

But Kanu, who netted a late consolation against Birmingham, insists his team-mates should not give up hope of claiming a positive result.

He said: 'Going to Liverpool is going to be a difficult game, but with football you never know what is going to happen.

'We have experienced players here and it is up to us now to really do our best. Sometimes when you do not count on us we can do something.

'Everybody knows they are one of the best in the country, they have so many quality players who can hurt you.

'But we must remember it is 11 taking on 11 so anything can happen.

'They lost their last game against Wigan so we have to be positive.

'We have to believe we can get something from this game.'
