Kitson: Premier League is the aim

Dave Kitson dismissed Pompey's poor start and insisted: The Premier League is the aim.

Kitson insisted Fratton Park is where he wants to be after being made to feel wanted by Steve Cotterill.

He said: 'As soon as I found out Pompey were interested in me, I wanted to come here.

'It's a good club which has fallen on hard times.

'There are still some great players here.

'I don't know what the ins and outs are and what has been going on.

'But my aim now is to get Pompey back into the Premier League.

'The manager was very persuasive and that's a big factor.

'It's nice to know how much the club wanted me.

'The Championship is a high-quality league with high-quality players and teams.

'It's a difficult league with terrific players like Craig Bellamy, so I'm excited.

'I know the Championship well and did well with Reading – hopefully I can get back to that.'
