Lampitt: Long way for us to go yet
David Lampitt has warned that Pompey's finances will take years to recover – despite implementing some serious cost-cutting measures over the course of the transfer window.
Pompey have made some drastic and necessary reductions to the wage bill, with a host of big-name departures since their relegation from the Premier League.
But the Blues chief executive admits that it could take as long as two years to get the budget back under control as Pompey bid to get themselves back on an even financial keel.
Lampitt said: 'It is still part of an ongoing process.
'The unwinding of the costs of the playing staff and coaching staff is a two-year process.
'I don't think anyone could reasonably expect all of that to be ironed out in one transfer window.'
While the playing squad has been decimated, there have been major changes behind the scenes as well as the club attempts to become more of a streamlined business operation.
Lampitt said: 'It's not just the playing side. But it relates to all areas of the club's operations and it will take time.'
