Millionaire on verge of Pompey purchase

Property tycoon Rob Lloyd is on the verge of becoming Pompey's new owner.

The News understands the 44-year-old from Cheshire heads a multi-national consortium with South African links which are closing in on taking the club out of administration.

The group have already lodged a 3m bond with Andrew Andronikou for 14-day exclusivity.

They have also satisfactorily provided the administrator with proof of funds.

Negotiations will now continue over securing the club.

Lloyd will tomorrow afternoon meet with representatives from various Pompey supporter groups in a bid to gauge their opinions on what they want from the new owners.

His consortium came close to buying the Blues last month, only to see their last-gasp bid fail and the club subsequently enter administration.

Lloyd is the chief executive and founder member of the Eatonfield Group, a commercial and residential property developer.

In August 2008, he was the subject in an episode of Channel 4's The Secret Millionaire and has also penned a book titled 'Raising The Bar' on his business experiences.
