Pennant: Pompey can reignite my career

Jermaine Pennant believes Pompey can help reignite his career.

The winger, who has joined the Blues on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season, is looking forward to playing regular football again after enduring a frustrating time at Anfield.

The former Arsenal ace was out of favour under Rafa Benitez and was limited to just a handful of appearances for the Reds.

But after being tempted to Pompey by his former Gunners team-mate Tony Adams, Pennant is eager to get back on top of his game and deliver the goods for his new club.

The 29-year-old, who could make his debut tomorrow in Pompey's FA Cup fourth-round clash against Swansea said: 'I want to get playing again. It was getting frustrating.

'I played 34 games last season and also appeared in the Champions League final but the manager wouldn't play me. I don't know why.

'But now I've got a chance to show what I can do at Portsmouth.

'Hopefully I can get some football here, help the team to get some good results and everyone will be happy.'
