Pompey ‘reject’ bids for Pearce

Jason Pearce's chances of staying at Pompey have been given a boost

Jason Pearce's chances of staying at Pompey have been given a boost

Pompey have today rejected bids for Jason Pearce, according to a source close to the player.

The News has been told that three Championship clubs have been knocked back today in their attempts to sign the defender.

However, it is likely that another offer will come in for the 24-year-old before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

One of the bids is thought to have come from Ipswich.

Pearce was believed to be getting treatment at the club’s Eastleigh training base this morning.

Ipswich have been in pursuit of the former Bournemouth man for the past fortnight, along with Joel Ward and Stephen Henderson.

But all three were said to be at Pompey’s training ground today.

The only notable absentee was Ryan Williams, who is set to complete a move to Fulham for a fee in the region of £500,000.

The Aussie starlet played in a reserve match for the Premier League outfit last night.

Meanwhile, Henderson, who has also been linked with Newcastle, has committed his future to Pompey.

The Irishman tweeted: ‘Putting this to bed now!I’m not going anywhere I’m very happy at portsmouth and look forward to hull sat!#pup’

Well I guess Mr Chanrai will have to sell for the right price now (if there is someone waiting in the wings, which I hope to God there is!) he's played this club TBH and I have little faith in A A either, it's gonna be a nail biting couple of weeks, but keep the faith, glass is still half full, this is a great club, it can't go down the pan PUP!

If we had sold a bunch of players we could have paid the tax man and then waited on the next tranch of parachute money so as to survive the season, provided of course our remaining players could achieve sufficient points. However, if we had done this Chanrai would have sat back, got his hands on whatever monies he could, even if only in interest payments, and kept the price of the club far too high to let it be sold. The way PFc has gone is risky but it wil almost certainly force Chanrai into asking a far more modest price and hopefully that way we will finally see the back of him. We need to now grit our teeth for an unpleasant ride because if a buyer wants the best price, he will wait as long as possible. My guess is that there will be buyers at the right price, so get set for a sale on or close to the 20th Feb!

130Mediascene - If AA and the board wanted to sell then it may be that they needed the cash to clear the HMRC debt. By refusing to go the players may have caused a bigger problem for the club. Unfortunately there still doesnt seem to be a buyer coming in.

Yeh, I was checking out on twitter and looks to me like they didn't want to move anyay. If Lampitt has intervened to try and keep the players, then I'm hopeful that somehting is on the horizon

Apparantly the official line from Ipswich was that personal terms could not be agreed with either player. Unofficially I understand that both players refused to move.

I agree, they NEVER say anything positive, I am still glass half full and hoping & praying for a happy outcome. I don't live down South any more, but I don't want to support another team, so there'd better be some good news soon, PUP come on Lampitt kick A A's butt let's get sorted!

Well, praying that there is a buyer in the wings, cos let's be realistic, if it aint the case, we should have sold some players last night, and we didn't (bar 1) so good new to keep the squad, now hopeful of some developments over the next week or Pray Up Pompey!

Well I said I thought the transfer window would be interesting and so it's proved. Not for the comings, not much happening there, but for the goings. One youngster, that's all. So that can only mean that we are only in a cash flow problem, meaning that the money is or will be available to support the club for the rest of the season. All very quite!! my thoughts are that there is a buyer, in the wings, just waiting for the dust to settle before announcing anything. Of course it could be that BC has underwritten the club whilst a true buyer is found; Oh bye the way it's been a whole week since MY Cala said anything, methinks he never had the cash! Of course there is always the possibility that we were not allowed to sell players anyway. The courts take a very dim view of companies in a winding up order selling the family silver before the hearing. Something to do with reducing the saleable assets. So it could be we are still in mortal danger. However I'm a half full glass man my self!! Well done to Cardiff, there's lovely!
