Pompey 'disappointed' by Crouch criticism
Peter Storrie has hit back at 'disappointing' comments from Peter Crouch questioning the club's direction.
The England striker yesterday called for the Pompey uncertainty to end, claiming players remain in the dark.
He pointed out players' contracts are still undecided and there is no manager in place, a fact which has unsettled himself as well as his colleagues.
Crouch now plans to seek reassurances from the club over its future.
But Pompey's top-scorer's criticism has upset Storrie.
He said: 'These are very disappointing comments because anybody in their right mind knows we are in a due-diligence period and the due diligence period means the club are technically in limbo for a month while this goes on.
'We cannot finalise matters on the manager and we can't finalise matters on players we are lining up.
'All the players know this and I'm surprised. I think Peter must have been caught off-guard on these sort of comments.
'I'm sure when I speak to Peter he will tell me he didn't actually say it that way, they have been twisted around a little bit. But it's very disappointing.'
Crouch had earlier raised the ownership issue and its impact on the playing squad.
He said: 'There are 15 players out of contract at the end of the season – no one knows who the manager is, we don't even know who the owner is to be honest.
'So anyone who is at the club wants some reassurances about what is going to happen – and I'll certainly be asking. I need to find out.
'I'm really disappointed to be honest.'
