Pompey fans set for two-minute protest at Blackpool
BOSS Michael Appleton
POMPEY fans are set to show unity and perform a two-minute protest during today’s match away to Blackpool.
A rallying call was issued last night calling for fans to turn away from the action and spend two minutes clapping and chanting ‘Appleton’s Blue and White Army’.
Tom Dearie, vice-chairman of the Pompey’s Supporters’ Trust, said fans need to ‘stand up and fight for the club’ as Pompey could face another administration.
He said: ‘It was formed by a culmination of people and there have been a few ideas around in the past couple of days.
‘We have got to start somewhere. Hopefully this will have a snowball effect and those that can’t make it may see it, and something similar might happen on Tuesday.
‘We cannot let this happen again. With all the work the MPs and Supporters Direct are doing, the issue is being raised nationally. It’s the Football League and the authorities that need to see this.’
Mr Dearie added he had contacted Pompey players on Twitter to make them aware of the planned action.
He added: ‘This is nothing to do with the players. I wanted them to know it’s not against them, we all support them.’

However i hope they dont do this backwards turn at a time when Blackpool are attacking. With our ability to drop concentration its a certain goal! Do it just as the players are going of for hLF Time or somewhen else!

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 03:25 PMTo me this smacks of the Trust trying to flex their muscles, this is all well and good - but to do it at such short notice? And to not have an open discussion about any planned action? It's unprofessional and dictorial .. I'm sorry but I can't see the trust doing anything other than cause division's amongst fan's .. time will tell, and I hope i'm wrong, but this is very poor PR management for all it's good intention's..

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 02:59 PMIf the fans are facing the pitch singing appys blue and white army it's because it's relevant .. if it's a protest and your singing facing away from the team .. I don't get it .. the silence would have more of an impact, wouldn't it??

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 02:26 PMI don't really get this !! .. It's half way to being a good idea.. I think showing the football world what it would be like with no Pompey fans supporting does work .. ie two minutes silence facing the other way at kick off.. but singing and clapping at a brick wall makes everyone look a bit retarded .. and why MA blue and white army?? I only ask as for all he's fantastic attributes he may not be around as long as the fans ..

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 01:33 PMpost 27 go enjoy your match at gosport some fan you are its 5000 + by the way and yes there ought to be many more .i wonder how many of those writing on here have signed up . it is a small cost to show true support to the club and it may mean little in the end but at least those 5000 are not giving up and still trying to find some way out of the mess not of their making . just writing opinions on here does little good to anyone but the writer . pup pfe

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 01:18 PMSo that will be about 300 die hard Pompey fans out of which about half a dozen will turn their backs on the game for two minutes! Exactly what is the point? Who are they hoping to impress with this futile protest? Who do they think will give a sh*t? Do you really think anyone watching the game on Sky will give a monkey's what Pompey fans are doing? Do you really think they care? Will it encourage a new owner to come running out from the woodwork to splash his dosh on our sorry club? Answers on a postcard to the Supporters Trust. At least it will make them feel wanted! How many have signed up for the 12th man? About 4,000 now isn't it? With fans like these, what potential owner would be daft enough to fork out the millions required. It's all quite pathetic and pointless. I say wind up the club now and file for bankruptcy. Start again in non-league football and work our way back without the debt. Let's all go and watch the Hawks or Gosport!
