Pompey favourite to join Birmingham

Fans’ favourite Erik Huseklepp will today join Birmingham on loan for the rest of the season.
Pompey are moving their top goalscorer off the books in a bid to slash their wage bill.
The Norwegian international was informed of the move yesterday by then-chief executive David Lampitt.
The News understands the developments came as a shock to Huseklepp, who had not asked to leave Fratton Park.
He is now travelling to the midlands for training with his new team-mates.
The deal will be for three months, taking Huseklepp until the season’s end, with a view to a permanent switch.

Friday, February 24, 2012 at 12:36 AMif saints go up and pompey goes down, or saints stay where they are and we go down, we will only come back stronger and brighter and better. if saints stay where they are and pompey stay where they are, we will get better, and strong and brighter. But if saints dont go up they will be demoralised, and broken and , whatever happens, we will come back stonger and better and brighter. I wish your team well, but we will always be here, no matter what, whatever league.

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:54 PMpost271 @speedy - i think appy himself was quoted soemwhere saying 'we dont know wher ewe might be next season' so the door is open for Erik - (might have been BBC or Guardian) - would be nice to see hijm back but i think whatever happens erik is beyond our means in the short and logn term. One of the better choices by SC it seems - if only for his comradarie within the team. But it seems we have a few players still left willing ot give their all for the cause! PUP

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 09:18 PMI don't know if anyone else has said this but say in theory we get a new owner before a) cash dries up so we fold b) we're put into liquidation etc. wouldn't we be within our rights to call the Viking back like WBA did with Mattock and Thorne? If so and we get a new owner and avoid liquidation, getting in a cheaperfree alternate in the short short term without also paying a month of Eric's wages and then get him back in the not too distant future could end up being a great move?

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 07:37 PMI had a look on the FL site but I can't find a strict account of "emergency" as in in "emergency loans", only stuff on maximum duration (93 days) and the like. It would seem to be about situations where a club has been struck by unusual numbers of injuries and or suspensions. But then I read that's how it used to be but "now it just seems to be used as a get out clause between transfer windows". Anyway, FIFA says "Emergency loans are not compatible with general principles of the Fifa regulations" and is going to ban them.

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 07:27 PM286 - Yes, I know what you mean, it's always a problem knowing how to deal with them, it's just that the whole thread is now suffocating under stuff that is crowding out any proper debate, it just goes on and on, they are far below the level of witty, in my view!

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 07:04 PM@ 266 bluelagoon my 265 post is a mere test of his whit!! No fool would bother to reply after that comment as it brings the truth of my comment into play. I do however agree with you!! I'm one for whitty banter and I'm sure they're sitting high on their pedestal at the moment I'm merely enticing him in particular to shut the funk up!! However yes fair comment!

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 07:03 PMI'm not sure how the loan rules are interpreted to allow Erik to actually play for Birmingham. BUt here's a couple of points to ponder: 1) Birmingham are serious rivals to s(um for a promotion place 2) Birmingham's next game is home to Notts Forest, who of course are in the 6-team relegation mini-league with us. Play up Erik!!

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 06:51 PM265 - Please stop replying to the provocations, it only gets them excited - "Amesbury" is a sad case but of no interest whatever. Let's get on with a proper discussion about Pompey matters.

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 06:39 PM262 - Try and follow, jtmarchwood. Otherwise there's no point in anyone trying to make a serious point. -- I am not talking about me. I am talking about the thousands who don't come to Fratton any more. Maybe you don't care whether they come back or not. Maybe you think they will come back if you slag them off, which you have been doing. If that's what you think, fine. I put forward a different point of view. You respond with a daft and irrelevant taunt. Sometimes I wonder whether Pompey will ever recover. I hope there are supporters who have serious suggestions as to how we can fill Fratton again.

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 06:26 PMStop defending Erik, amazed how blind you are most of you defending Erik proberbly still think that we are Redkapps spiritual home.. Erik has no genuine loyalty, of course he had a choice to stay, "here Gov, i love this club so much, I dont want to go, I refuse to go, I will even drop my wages to 1k a week." There are more attractive propositions in our squad for clubs who would be willing to take players like Ward and Pearce on loan , so why havnt they gone as well? How about they did take the wage cuts asked of them.

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 06:03 PMPeople have lots of reasons for having walked away from Fratton Park and spending their Saturdays doing other things. A new administration, with most of the issues of the past years still unresolved, is not going to pull them all back. In fact, that might take years. The worst thing anyone can do right now is to slag them off as "fair-weather" supporters, accuse them of "moaning" (that catch-all word with no content) and pat ourselves on the back for being heroes. We don't need media hype campaigns to "pack the park" (which don't seem to work), we need patient re-building. We may have time for that, we may not. In any case, we won't get the missing thousands in by PR tricks or by insulting the still absent majority.

Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 05:08 PMIf we get through this I sincerely hope that Appy is still with us, whatever division we are in. He seems to be the first manager in years who is able to get players to join us without the promise of wages we can't afford. Just look at the high earners in recent years who have taken money from the club without performing at anything better than average Chamiponship.
