Pompey players and staff in new wage bill blow

Pompey have been dealt a fresh financial blow

Pompey have been dealt a fresh financial blow

Pompey players and staff have been told they will not be receiving their January wages tomorrow.

The club tonight informed them the Blues have yet to receive a required validation order from the courts.

That means the club’s bank account remains frozen as a result of the winding-up order issued last month

As a result, players and staff salaries initially due last Tuesday have still to be paid.

Club chief executive David Lampitt and administrator of Popmey’s parent company CSI were not available to comment on whether there will be any knock-on effect on Pompey’s ability to stage Saturday’s home match against Hull.

From the Southsea Saint and continuing my previous posts, I still want the banter and bragging rights but there is no way that Pompey should be allowed to go under. This is the greatest city in the UK I love living here. It's a shame I can't put on a blue shirt but that's life. I will do anything else I can to support you No genuine football fan will support the posts of some of the morons on here. Good luck and I've got a tenner for any fighting fund.

Media. I agree, I'm actually feeling quite emotional at some of these posts. Thank you, sincerely to all the Saints fans on here who have offered support. What a fantastic advert for our clubs that would be, it would definately be worth world coverage. Sadly I dont think it can happen due to a few idiots who would cause the Police a real headache. BLUESHIRT..158 & 159 fantastic posts & couldn't agree more. Let's all hope & pray we will continue with both our clubs in existance on the south coast.

Peaceful stuff between 2 sets of fans, makes me wanna cry, very touching, great stuff guys. It's time something was done in this country, this is a great club I'm still praying that it ain't all over. I've seen other clubs like Saints & Leeds get done over and it's sad, period. I don't want to see another football club go downt he pan, especially mine, PUP!

AllMouth, it's not often I agree with you, but I do on this occasion wholeheartedly. Thanks to the sensible Saints fans on here for your sentiments. It would indeed be a great way of demonstrating to the world how important football on the South Coast is to us all and that we are prepared to stand up in support of friendly rivalry. If Saints fans do turn up on Saturday in the right spirit, I hope they will be not be abused by the mindless few!

Dan in NZ.......Give it up mate, the police would never allow a mixed Pompey and Saints crowd.........we've all been branded as hooligans and that can't be changed after all these years and that's sad.

I've posted about this before, but it's worth doing so again while we have visitors from other clubs who have come here to make constructive and supportive comments (and please ignore my provocative username for now, I can change it when I have figured out how...). It's worth thinking about what can be organised by fans in the crowd to protest against the money situation. As an example of what can be done, look at what happened in the Swedish League game between AIK and Djurgarden in September. Both these clubs are from the capital city Stockholm, and their level of rivalry is similar to that between us and our M27 neighbours. The two sets of supporters agreed to stage a protest against the domination of football by money and against the branding of all supporters as hooligans. The deal was that for the first 10 minutes everybody would watch the game in silence. After that banners were unfurled and singing began. You can see it for yourself here: http:##www.youtube.com#watch?v=MdnBW_2gOuo (replace # with slash). Just think about the degree of organisation that was necessary to achieve this: within each group of fans (distribution of correct coloured flags on seats to make the patterns etc) and between the two groups of fans who are usually deadly rivals. Imagine the impact if something like that happened at our game tomorrow. Or even at the St Mary's match in the spring.

Hate to say it but I sense a bit of ridicule.. more from Saints fans than Pompey. If anyone fancies pushing the idea of a white flag Football Friendship day for the bereaved in Egypt and running it as a means to fill Fratton Park then it does have to come from your end. Some Saints may attend if it's run properly but you may get more luck from the Egyptians.tbh Good Luck.

It is a disgraceful state of affairs that this wonderful old football club is in. It does go from bad to worse. But we should be grateful to those football-loving friends from down the road for offering to help and we should all WELCOME them in PEACE to Fratton if they want to come. I remember feeling very sad a few years back when Saints nearly went out of business and I can not be angry at anyone who wants to help us. Please come to the Park - it may be your last chance to see a proper old football ground. You will be safe.

Having read a few more of last night's posts I realise that I have woken up in an alternative universe where everything is the same....except Saints fans are offering their support to us, Pompey fans are reaching out and accepting their fine gestures, everyone can see as way to live in peace and harmony. I'm scared.

yes-some great posts on here tonight, from pompey and saints fans alike.perhaps the way forward is to meet up-some of you some of us-i know it wont be easy to arrange, but a meeting of goodwill could foster friendship for years to come .if i had my wy saints bournemouth pompey and brighton would all be in the prem league-not possible i know-but put the south of england on the football map.the northerners hate us anyway, did hitler worry about skates or saints? no he just wanted to destroy us.in those days of the war we were all united-something similar happened when the falklands war kicked off,-lets all get agrip and move on and i suppose grow up a bit and set a better example to the younger ones.

It is very encouraging to read some of the posts on this site - it shows there are still real fans around who actually care about the plight of their near neighbours and are willing to do something in support. However, I fear that the possibility of a fund-raiser between Pompey and their most bitter rivals would not be sanctioned. I remember Knightsie's Testimonial a few years ago..........I guess we'll just have to wait for the appearance of a Fairy Godmother carrying a magic wand and around £50 million in cash.

eastneyboy, post 119, what a brilliant and impressive post yours is....in just two lines of text you have shown exactly why many people wouldnt shed a single tear if PFC went out of existence! With our club virtually gone to the dogs, all you can bring to the table is blind unreasoning animosity and contempt for others who would make an effort to show solidarity with our club and help in time of need........The saints fans who would be willing to make this gesture of support for us deserve credit and appreciation and all you can do is spit in their eye for offering to do so.. To any genuine saints fan who read your post, I can only say that not all Pompey fans think like eastneyboy and his moronic views are not shared by everyone who wears a blue shirt, me included.....to eastneyboy I say that I'd sooner see Pompey go out of existence than attitudes like yours are taken to represent us all......

Good to see genuine saints fans, who are also obviously genuine football fans on here offering support and good wishes........ the idea of a truce for a day, with football fans uniting in a show of support for a club in trouble is a good one and well appreciated, sadly there are far too many idiots who would be offensive, abusive and downright nasty to anyone who made the effort to come to Fratton. It is a crying shame that some blinkered morons can't see beyond the "I hate S**m" mentality that pervades Fratton Park, and can't or won't accept genuine shows of support from fans of another club, fans who know what we're going through, having endured something similar just a few years back........ To the genuine fans who have offered messages of support to us in our crisis, I say an equally genuine "thank-you", and regrettably find it necessary to advise against coming to Pompey in your saints shirts, because of the likely actions of a certain section of our followers who lack the intelligence to recognise a gesture of support when they see one.
