Pompey’s clash with Tigers postponed
Fratton Park will not host today's match with Hull because of a frozen pitch
Pompey’s Championship match with Hull today has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.
Following a pitch inspection at Fratton Park at 10am this morning, the referee was concerned with a frozen part of the pitch near the South Stand and deemed a further inspection at 10.30am was pointless.
Temperatures again plummeted below freezing overnight, with Bournemouth’s home clash against Exeter one of the first to be called off yesterday.
Covers had been used on the Fratton Park pitch this week to protect it from frost and Pompey were confident the game would go ahead last night.
More than 14,000 tickets had been sold by yesterday afternoon for today’s match.
A rescheduled date is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Hawks’ Blue Square South match at Bromley has also been postponed.

Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 08:51 PMSorry you are wrong I am a massive Saints fan. I went to school in Southampton and am good friends with one of the 1975 team so Southampoton is in my blood but here is the thing. Hate is a wasted emotion. If you carry hate in your life it will eat away at you. So why have such a thing? I love Football. The expression that comes to mind is 'there but the grace of good go I'. Southampton nearly got wiped of the Map just like Pompey are sadly looking like it could go that way. I am sure that some Pompey fans came to gloat on The Echo site but two wrongs don't make a right and I am willing to bet that the majority of true Saints fans would agree with what I am saying just like the majority of Pompey fans on this site didn't want Saints to go under. I believe that the Saints Pompey derby is the biggest derby you can get which is just one of the many reasons I hope Pompey does survive. I don't care what childish insults you send my way @ deliverance and truck but you know nothing about me so stop saying I am not a Saints fan and either start saying something positive or not at all ............. Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 01:59 PM@ 206 15 days until when? Is it until Mummy takes your Internet priveldges away? 15 days until your labotomy happens? Or 15 days until you work out that even though the likes of you and me Support Southampton you can still support Portsmouth and wish them well? I am a passionate supporter of Saints but I am a lover of football in general and of course support Saints in the local derby but the other games I want them to do well. Remember the words of the Ronan Keeting song 206. You sayig best, when you say nothing at all ;-). PuP keep the faith. It is not over until the fat lady sings (so ffs don't book Michelle McManas ever for half time entertainment ;-) ..... PJ AKA Farehamite

Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 09:50 PMPompey in Oxford .. (AKA LEE????) My take on it all, is thats its a lost cause. BC £17MILLION OWED Aka Snoras Bank £10MILLION Secured OWED And the rest of the existing creditors OWED Come on in this climate who would be so mad as to buy Pompey????? As for the crowds, anyone who wants to buy Pompey will know everything about our support and our history.. its not rocket science for a potential owner who you seem to think might be looking at us to recognise that the way we have been treated we have a right to protest and revolt. Mike appleton and the players would undertsand that too. Regards Dave

Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 09:12 PMWhy didn't Pompey deploy their secret weapon? If you had got AA to go around the edge of the pitch and get him to read out some of his recent press releases, that would have creaed enou hot air to melt the polar ice caps so a football pitch would be no hassle ;-). BY the way News team, where's the photo of AA in his winter coat outside the ground today? I issue it is in. His contract to pose in as many different places as possible. Keep the faith guys, you are down but not out. PuP :-)
