Pompey to cash in on Crouch, but Distin's going nowhere
Pompey have admitted Peter Crouch will not be remaining at Fratton Park – but insist Sylvain Distin is going nowhere.
Crouch's proposed move to Sunderland was yesterday scrapped with the player preferring to remain in the south.
However, Peter Storrie has conceded the in-demand striker, right, will not be staying at the Blues – despite Sulaiman Al Fahim's takeover.
Instead, Spurs and Fulham are leading the chase as the 28-year-old heads out of the exit door in a 12m deal.
Pompey have, however, issued a 'hands off' warning for Distin.
The influential defender has been the subject of interest from Aston Villa during the past few weeks.
Storrie told The News a bid has been turned down for the 31-year-old, with Paul Hart eager to keep him at the club.
And that is a crucial boost to Pompey fans fearing the exit of more of their stars this summer.
He said: 'Peter will not be staying. I'm aware of the Sunderland situation but there are other clubs in for him.
'With him it is a club decision to sell. It's like anything if exceptional money is offered you look at it and that is the instance in this case. Sulaiman has been aware of that so there is no problem there.
'However, we want Sylvain to remain at this football club and will be making sure he does.
'We have only ever had one offer for him and I am not at liberty to say who from. But we told them we were not interested under any circumstances.
'At this moment in time, as far as we are concerned, Sylvain is staying. It's as simple as that.'
