Popular Primus comes to the rescue
Not for the first time Linvoy Primus has ridden to the rescue.
And this time it's Portsmouth Football Supporters Club which owes him a debt of gratitude.
The London Branch was expecting to roll out the carpet and hang out the bunting in anticipation of Sulaiman Al Fahim's arrival for last Saturday's AGM.
Despite having agreed to attend if the takeover was complete by that date, chairman Terry Bennett never heard from Al Fahim's people again.
Still, fans' favourite Primus, below, stepped in to prove just as much of a crowd puller at the Union Jack Club event in Waterloo.
Accompanied by director of operations Lucius Peart, ticket office manager Elaine Giles and fans' liaison officer Johnny Moore, Pompey were well represented.
And, regardless of Al Fahim's absence, Primus proved a massive hit.
Bennett said: 'Unfortunately we didn't hear from Sulaiman Al Fahim and his people again after initially accepting our invitation.
'I suppose you can understand that, his attendance always was reliant on whether he had taken control of the club by then.
'Instead we had Linvoy – and everybody loved him.
'I had heard he was planning to come but didn't tell any of our members in case he didn't show up, we have been burnt so many times in the past with other people.
'I should have known that he'd be as good as his word, though.
'People couldn't believe it when he walked in and a massive cheer went up. The supporters really appreciated his attendance.
'He answered questions for 40 minutes and then spent more than an hour chatting to people and posing for photographs.
'I believe it's our first player attendee since we have been in the Premier League. Hopefully, Al Fahim will be down to visit us when the takeover is completed – he will still be welcome.'
