Revitalised Pamarot revelling in Adams era

Tony Adams has resurrected his Pompey career, now in-favour Noe Pamarot is hoping he has a long-term future at Fratton Park.

The versatile defender rarely got a first-team look in during Harry Redknapp's tenure, often employed as a stop-gap and bit-part player.

It's a far cry from his present situation in which he has featured in all but one of Adams' 13 games in charge.

Left-back, right-back and even – fleetingly – in his favoured position at the heart of the defence, Pamarot's performed them all during the past few months.

It's a timely return for the Frenchman, who is one of 15 players out of contract this summer.

But at the moment, he's keen to revel in regular first-team football again.

He said: 'I have played a lot of games and I am just happy to be in the team – that's motivation for me.

'In a way I suppose it's mixed feelings, I'm playing but we are not winning games. I'm happy to play, but we are not getting the results for the team and that's not great.

'But being in the team is fantastic, I'm enjoying it so much.

'At the beginning of the season I was thinking about my contract situation, but now I'm playing more and it means I'm more relaxed. I think good will come. I will have to see.

'I would like to stay, of course. Nothing has been said and I'm waiting to hear, but that is not a problem for me.

'When you play you don't worry about these kind of things. I just want to be in the side and I'm lucky enough to be there at the moment.

'I am part of things so it's easier for me to feel part of this club. I will now just have to wait to see what happens.'

It's Pamarot's ability to fulfil a variety of different roles which have made him such a crucial member of the squad over the last three years.

Yet the 29-year-old remains adamant where his best position is.

He added: 'I used to play centre-back when I was a kid and I am more comfortable there, that is my favourite position.

'My body is more suited to that I think, it's my natural game.'
