Sowah back in final contention
LENNY SOWAH has been given the green light to fight for a Cup final spot.
The teenager sat out last weekend's defeat at Everton with a knee problem.
He picked up the injury while making his Germany under-18 debut the previous week, completing a meteoric rise to prominence in the last five weeks.
However, Paul Groves was confident the youngster would today be back in Pompey training.
And it opens the door for Sowah to challenge Hayden Mullins, Nadir Belhadj and Tal Ben-Haim for that left-back spot.
Groves said: 'Lenny injured a little area beneath his knee while making his first appearance for Germany under-18s.
'He played virtually the whole 90 minutes but aggravated it. It means he's been a couple of days, couldn't play at Everton and has not been able to train.
'I don't think it's serious, though, it will only be for a couple of days and I'm sure he will be challenging for Wembley.'
Should he appear, Sowah (17 years 265 days) will not beat the record for the youngest FA Cup final player.
That feat is still held by Curtis Weston (17 years 119 days), then of Millwall, in 2004 against Man United.
