Spurs in talks to net Begovic

Spurs are in talks to sign Asmir Begovic.

And they are seeking special dispensation by Fifa to enable the keeper to play for them during the current campaign.

According to Fifa regulations, a player cannot represent more than two clubs in a season.

In that case, Begovic has already appeared for Pompey and been on loan at Ipswich.

However, a player can sign for three clubs this season.

The only chance Spurs have of playing him during 2009/10 would be to seek permission off Fifa.

The News understands they are doing just that.

And with a deal for Younes Kaboul set to be completed, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is set to deal his former club another blow by taking another one of the Blues' prized assets.

If Begovic, who was man of the match against West Ham on Tuesday, was to leave, it is likely David James would stay put until the end of the season.
