Storrie admits he was paid bonuses for Pompey wins
Furious fans have turned on Peter Storrie after he admitted he was paid a 'win bonus' every time Pompey notched up a victory.
The under-fire club chief executive revealed he was paid 3,000 each time Pompey won and 1,500 for each draw.
The payments, the same as those awarded to Pompey's players, came on top of Mr Storrie's 600,000 basic salary and the 500,000 bonus he received from Sacha Gaydamak in 2009.
Mr Storrie's revelation came in an interview in the Daily Telegraph in which he blamed the club's problems on previous owners Gaydamak, Sulaiman Al Fahim and Ali Al Faraj.
He also said he was upset that he would be remembered as the chief executive of the first Premier League club to go into administration.
But Bob Beech, of campaign group Pompey SOS, had little sympathy.
He said: 'How could he have been receiving win and draw bonuses? Did I miss something? I never saw him score a goal or make a save. Was he cutting the half-time oranges?
'He is looking for sympathy, but I have none for him. He is a millionaire more than once over and that's down to the hard work of people below him, many of whom have lost their jobs thanks to the club's mismanagement. If you're going to feel sorry for anyone, it's them, isn't it? Not Peter Storrie.'
Colin Farmery, a member of Portsmouth Supporters' Trust interim board, said: 'He feels unfairly criticised because he feels he's been singled out for abuse from fans. To an extent that's true. The responsibility is not all his. I'm not an apologist for him and I think there are many things he's said that are down to him at least in part. But there's more than one person to blame for Pompey's current state.'
In the interview Mr Storrie, who refused to speak to The News, said: 'I was on 600,000 a year basic. That's very reasonable with 21 years' experience in football, being in the Premier League. When we won the Cup and did well in the league, he (Gaydamak) gave me a 750,000 bonus but I was only on 450,000 basic then. In January 2009, we were in a mess financially and I brought in an awful lot of money so Sacha gave me a 500,000 bonus.
'Because of cash-flow problems I didn't take that until August 2009. Because I had a big role on the football side, they included me in the win/draw bonus. It's about 3,000 a win and 1,500 a draw.'
