UPDATED: Pompey staff will not be paid this month

POMPEY players and staff will not be paid their wages after funds were frozen by HMRC.

Today the club told staff they would not be paid their January wages scheduled for tomorrow.

Andrew Andronikou has revealed the club’s bank account was frozen last Wednesday following the publication of the winding-up petition in the London Gazette.

It leaves players, management and staff without pay amid a deepening financial crisis at Fratton Park.

CSI administrator Mr Andronikou said: ‘It’s a logistical issue. The winding-up petition has left us in a situation whereby the club’s bank account is currently frozen and, as a result, players’ and staff wages have not been paid for January.

‘We plan to get a validation order approved by the court tomorrow to address this.’

A statement issued by the club said: ‘Further to our recent update that a winding-up petition has been issued and publicised to Portsmouth Football Club, the club’s bank accounts have been frozen, which is the normal process in these circumstances.

‘The club is now seeking a validation order from the court in order to have its bank accounts unfrozen so that staff wages and suppliers can be paid. This is expected to take a few days and once obtained this will allow our bank accounts to be reactivated.

‘Based on our current information we expect this process to be completed by the end of the week and would like to thank all our staff, fans and suppliers for their ongoing support.’

A notice given to a member of staff said: ’We are sorry to have to notify you that January pay will not be in your bank tomorrow.

‘We anticipate this being resolved in the next few days.

‘We ask you for your continued support at this difficult time. Thank you.’

This corrupt little club needs putting down,NOW but the football league hasn't got the balls,HMRC on the other hand has. God bless HMRC. Up the Saints
