Wanted Grant demands Pompey clarity
Pompey moved to reassure fans Avram Grant is staying at the club.
Despite pledging his commitment to the club, Grant has demanded clarity from the prospective new owners and admitted he is growing tired at the continuing Fratton Park soap opera.
A reported approach from Hull City yesterday to make Grant their new manager sparked fears the Israeli could be lured to Humberside.
But Pompey administrator Andrew Andronikou insisted Grant would remain on the south coast.
He said: 'Avram has no plans to leave Portsmouth.
'He has given me his commitment to stay at the club at least until the end of the season.'
Off-the-pitch problems continue to engulf Fratton Park.
Mystery still surrounds the consortium leading the running to take over the club at present.
Potential chairman Rob Lloyd has emerged as the public face of that group after meeting with supporters and speaking to The News.
But Lloyd is not funding the takeover himself and has refused to reveal who the moneymen are behind the move.
Grant admitted he has grown tired of the false dawns at the club.
Grant said: 'To tell the truth, I've had enough of speaking about this.
'I cannot speak about this anymore because I speak about the same things again and again.
'I hope it will be finished and it will be good for everybody.
'This is a good club, a good city, we are fighting for this club, we are fighting for this city – but we need help.
'We want to see good things off the pitch and I am sure it will affect things on the pitch.
'There are a lot of potential owners and I hope that someone will take the club and create some stability.
'We can't live from week-to-week, from hour-to-hour.
'The strategy will make it much more easy for everybody.
'I hope it will happen but let me see the facts first and then speak about what's happening.
'I've been here long enough to hear about potential owners. I will wait for the facts.
'If someone will take the club I will be happy because we need that. It can not continue like it is at the moment.'
Grant has established himself as a favourite with the Pompey crowd after succeeding Paul Hart as boss.
His shows of passion and empathy with the Fratton faithful have won over the club's following.
The 54-year-old has indicated he would be willing to stay on with the Blues, even if they are relegated to the Championship.
But Grant has reiterated his belief that sound footing is needed in order to start reshaping the club.
He said: 'If I know what the future of the club here is it will be easier to decide what happens for me.
'I decided to put myself on the side and do everything to keep the club alive.
'We showed spirit and there have been many positive things dispute the situation.
'But at the end of the day we want to know what the future will bring.
'I think we need to know that in the next weeks. That will be good for everybody.
'Stability is needed. If you have that you can plan something.
'If you have that you can think about the future of the club.
'Then we can think about what we need, what is our strategy and where we need to go.
'This is a good club but we can not keep living like we are.'
