Younes Kaboul

The ex-France under-21 captain put pen to paper on a four-year-deal in August 2008 after Pompey agreed an undisclosed fee with Spurs, rejecting the chance to join Sunderland and Villa.

The defender started his career at French Ligue 1 club Auxerre, becoming a squad regular by the age of 19.

After putting in a number of good performances for club and country at youth level, Spurs snapped him up for a fee of around 7m.

But after having an indifferent season at White Hart Lane, new manager Kaboul was sacrificed by boss Juande Ramos.

Kaboul will be hoping to prove his critics wrong and learn off the experienced duo of Sol Campbell and Sylvain Distin.
