Pompey are believed to be in the race to sign Miles Storey on a season-long loan.
The promising Swindon Town forward scored three goals in 21 appearances last season and has been identified as a different option to bolster Andy Awford’s striking resources.
While he can play in a central position, the former England under-19 international can also operate in a wide role.
Although Awford declined to confirm the link with the 20-year-old, that has become common practice in recent times for the Blues boss on his potential transfer targets.
It is also clear Storey is not the only transfer target the club are working on ahead of Thursday’s return to pre-season training.
