Whittingham: It was points dropped

Pompey caretaker boss Guy Whittingham, left, with Andy Awford

Guy Whittingham admitted it was two points dropped as Pompey were held to a 0-0 draw against Preston.

Izale McLeod’s penalty miss proved crucial as the Blues were held by Graham Westley’s side.

That made it 10 games without a win - although Pompey are now unbeaten in three.

Whittingham’s men had the better of it and carved out chances throughout the game.

The caretaker boss was frustrated it wasn’t all three points for his side - but was lifted by a clean sheet.

He said: ‘When you are down at the bottom, every point is a good point.

‘But obviously, you think it is two points dropped with the way we played so that is disappointing.

‘I thought we had enough chances and enough pressure to win the game.

‘The way we played was pretty positive. The only thing missing was a goal.

‘That’s not good that we’ve now missed four penalties this season.

‘If we’d taken that, it would have been a 1-0 victory and that would have been great. But we didn’t.

‘The pleasing thing is that we haven’t conceded because we needed to tighten up at Fratton Park.
