Lets Get Serious is set to make his eagerly-anticipated hurdles bow at Fontwell this afternoon.

Nicky Henderson is ready to hand the son of Overbury his debut after he has impressed in schooling at Seven Barrows.

The five-year-old raced once last term, winning a bumper at Cheltenham.

He defeated Paul Nicholls’ unbeaten hurdler Dark Lover that day, while also getting the better of the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Sybarite.

The latter was 10th in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last season and finished fourth behind the stunning Grand Crus in the Steel Plate And Sections Novices’ Chase.

It is no wonder then that the Henderson team hold Lets Get Serious in high regard.

He has been declared for the Wellpool Proud To Sponsor Kirsty Milczarek Novices’ Hurdle at Fontwell (1.40pm).

And champion jockey Tony McCoy has been booked for the ride.

The two-mile, five-furlong contest is third on a seven-race card in West Sussex.

The Christmas Party Raceday opens with the Wellpool Proud To Sponsor Leonna Mayor Juvenile Hurdle (12.40pm).

And racing closes with the Worthing Audi Handicap Hurdle at 3.40pm.

The going is currently rated soft, heavy in places.
