Havant slipped to a 48-11 defeat at the hands of Chichester at Hooks Lane.
It was a first defeat of the season for Will Knight’s men in London one south.
‘It was a bad day at the office because we just didn’t play,’ said Havant coach Knight.
‘Our forwards didn’t provide any sort of platform for us to shape our game.
‘Fair play to Chichester though, because they were well-drilled and will be up there chasing promotion.’
Gosport & Fareham’s miserable start continued with a thumping 53-0 defeat at Basingstoke.
‘Our preparation wasn’t great because of injuries and unavailability,’ said coach Mark Wells.
‘We had to play most of the second half with 14 men because we had used our replacements.
‘Basingstoke were man-for-man fitter, quicker and more physical.
‘We find ourselves bottom of the league which is a bad place to be.’
