Portsmouth embark on their longest trip of the season as they visit London one strugglers Thanet Wanderers tomorrow.

The Rugby Camp outfit are without centres Chris Ealey (injured) and Harry Hodell (Hampshire under-20s) but welcome back Lee Chandler from Royal Navy duties.

Chandler will partner Kiwi Ben Whitley, who moves into the centre from full-back.

‘We have played two high-intensity games against top sides in the last fortnight,’ said Portsmouth coach Ian Chandler.

‘This could be slightly different and it will be interesting to see how the players react.

‘Thanet are scrapping for their lives but if we can maintain the levels of the last two weeks we should win.

‘It will all be down to attitude.

‘We will have to match their effort and having done that we should be able to impose our quality on the game.’

Portsmouth have six players in the Hampshire under-20 side against Middlesex on Sunday.

Portsmouth: Whitley, Hazeldine, Gates, Chandler, Bion, Graham, Botten, Sargent, Hoolihan, Hankey, French, Lynch, Brock, Long, Crabb J, Goldsmith, Nicholls, Cartmill, Whitehouse.
