Roy Steere knocked in a 42 break for Cowplain as they lost 5-2 to Craneswater R.

His great display just failed to rescue the extra point by only three after four of his team-mates failed to impress.

James Curtis also scored but the damage was already done by Chris Bishop, Harry Yard, Liam Melia and Chris Trim.

Reigning top-flight champions Craneswater A looked the part as they hammered their Z side 6-1 at Southsea.

Mike Talmondt registered the week’s best break as he managed a run of 58 against Arthur Newland.

Ladies’ world billiards champion Emma Bonney could not get going against Tony Hansford and failed to turn the tables.

Cowplain Jacks returned to action with an emphatic 5-2 win over bottom-of-the-table Copnor C.

The quartet of Terry Hickley, Dave Rees, Steve Wilson and Bill Phillips had it all their own way despite being on away tables.

Barry Mihell and Dave Lawrence reduced the arrears, beating Steve Hughes and Jamie Wilson respectively.

Scott Compton and Mark Tillison were the star turns as Copnor A eased through 5-2 against Portchester X.
