PETE FERGUSON saw off Harry Yard to win the John Peers Handicap Singles trophy at Craneswater Club.

The duo were the star performers as 32 players lined up for the first edition of the club’s newest competition – for league and club players.

In the final, Ferguson got on a roll quickly when he won the opener.

The second frame was close, with the man nicknamed Pedro potting brown, blue and pink to get over the line.

Frame three was a one-sided affair as Ferguson closed out his victory.

Craneswater’s John Peers presented the shield trophy and the £110 first prize to Ferguson.

Harry Yard had to settle for the second-place prize of £50 and a trophy.
