PORTSMOUTH potter Pascal Richard is to defend his News Snooker Championship title as our annual competition enters its third year.
Richard won the prestigious event last year, after battling through a series of tough rounds in a high-quality field.
The date and venue for the 2015 championship has now been set.
It will be held on Saturday, March 28, at Mayfair Snooker Club in Stoke Road, Gosport.
Richard, as well as former England international Colin Norton, have already signed up to play in the contest, which is free to enter.
It is open to registered players from the Gosport/ Fareham and Portsmouth leagues.
To enter, email firstname.lastname@example.org or text/call 0795 1793429 giving your name, the team you play for and a contact email and mobile phone number.
Deadline for entries is midday on Sunday, March 22. The draw will be done in advance and sent out to players, giving approximate start times for their matches.
All matches are best of five and are off scratch.
Meanwhile, Paul Foster dropped just two frames as he became champion of Gosport’s Stoke Snooker Club.
Foster saw off Lee Warner 3-1 in the final of the competition, which has been rekindled after a gap of 23 years.
He earlier won his semi-final against teenage hot-shot Mark Lloyd 3-1.
Lloyd had got off to a storming start, by knocking in a fabulous 79 break. But back came Foster to take the next three, with breaks of 60 and 45.
Foster said: ‘I was delighted to become champion of the club I’ve been playing at since I was 15.’
