Locks Heath rack up medals to make it a happy new year

JPNS Locks Heath Swim Squad''The City of Southampton Christmas meet saw Locks Heath Swim Squad finish the year in a flurry of medals.  Arabella Suttie (10yrs) and Tess  Edwards (10yrs) took nearly all of the gold medals in the 9/10yr age group!  Arabella had a fantastic meet, winning four gold medals for her swims in 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke, while Tess took the golds for 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.  Tess also took silver in 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m medley, taking her medal haul to 7 for the day.  Her older sister, Zita (13yrs), also did very well winning gold in the 13/14yr age groups for 100m breaststroke and two silver medals for her 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle.  Abbie Daniel (15yrs) swam well to take a silver in the age 15/16 100m medley and bronze medals for 50m and 100m breaststroke.  Emily Tidby (12yrs) took home a bronze for her swim in the 11/12yrs 50m breaststroke.

Locks Heath signed off from 2012 in style at the City of Southampton Christmas meet.

The club collected a host of medals, with Arabella Suttie and Tess Edwards cleaning up in the nine-to-10-year age group.

Suttie delivered some outstanding performances to collect four goal medals from her swims. They arrived in the 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Edwards supported her as she delivered victories in the 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly in a fine meet.

She then boosted her medal haul for the competition as silvers arrived in the 200m freestyle,100m freestyle and 100m medley,

Zita Edwards had success in the 13-to-14-age group, with gold coming her way in the 100 breaststroke, along with two silvers in the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle.

In the 15-to-16-years section, Abbie Daniel swam well to take a silver in the 100m medley and bronze medals for the 50m and 100m breaststroke. Emma Tidby medalled in the 11-to-12-years 50m breaststroke with a bronze.

There was further success for Locks Heath at the Peter Bull meet at Havant & Waterlooville.

Zita Edwards topped the 13-year section, while Jessica Larby (11 years) and Lucy Newton (nine years) finished third. Arabella Suttie finished fourth (nine years) despite her medley swim being too fast to be entered.

William Whitlock was fourth (11 years) and Sam Rush fifth (13 years).
