Molyneaux delights in Nomads successes

A squad of 20 participated in the event, with Nomads winning 21 gold, 21 silver and 19 bronze medals, while also amassing 58 personal bests.

Price won a further two silver medals, with Hollands also picking up a second-placed finish.

However, she went on to win the senior girls’ ‘Skins Event’, with Anna Ross placing third in the same competition.

Head coach John Molyneaux was delighted with the success achieved by the club.

‘Podium finishes for the Fareham Nomads squad are now becoming a regular feature at competitions of this nature,’ he said.

‘We are pleased with the recent results gained by the swimmers.

‘And I thank my fellow coaches for the continued hard work they and the swimmers have put in over the past few months.’

Ryan Ireland and Tom Dickson both won double golds, with single successes for Daisy Ireland, Anna Ross, Maddie Thompson, Shona McGrath, Ruby Hudson, Harriet Burnham and Emily Quick.

There was further success for the Nomads at the Rother Junior Gala in Gosport, where they won 15 events and placed second in 18.

Dickson, Daisy Ireland and Ryan Ireland won their indivdual races and were joined at the top of the podium by Evelyn Roswell, Georgia Kennedy, Ben King, Charlie Holyer, Hannah Cooper and Ellen Jewell.

Competing against Alton, Ringwood, Andover and Gosport – Nomads were just ousted by Alton.

Meanwhile, Fareham Nomads have hosted their second schools’ gala.

And Crofton Anne Dale emerged victorious. They fought off competition from Locks Heath, Hook with Warsash, Sarisbury, Redlands and Red Barn.

Each school entered pupils from years five and six, with the event held at Fareham Leisure Centre.

The pupils were entered in a variety of 25m races, which included freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.

To add to the excitement, there was also a freestyle and medley relay for them to contest.

Molyneaux, who also presented the prizes, was delighted with the turnout and is hoping for even more competition next year.

‘It was great to see so many schoolchildren enjoying swimming and racing against their peers,’ said the Nomads head coach.

‘The atmosphere was brilliant, with each school showing great team spirit throughout.

‘We will be running this event annually.

‘And we would like to increase the number of local schools taking part.’
