Pompey suffered their second mauling on the bounce as Chelsea dumped them out of the Carling Cup tonight.
Luiz Felipe Scolari's men handed out a 4-0 battering to Harry Redknapp's shell-shocked men at Fratton Park.

That meant the Blues have conceded 10 unanswered goals in 78 and-a-half hours after being hit for six at Manchester City on Sunday.

It was embarrassingly one sided as the Londoners progressed at a canter.

Controversy surrounded the opener as Frank Lampard converted a 36th minute penalty after Michael Ballack went down under the attention of Nadir Belhadj.

Pompey contended the German had dived, but that did little to bother Redknapp's nephew as he sent James the wrong way.

That moment was where the arguing finished for the home side as Chelsea grabbed a second on the stroke of half-time through Florent Malouda and then dominatd the game after the break.

Lampard grabbed the visitor's third three minutes after the restart after David James had failed to deal with a Kalou cross.

Then Kalou got on the scoresheet himself as he was given the freedom of the penalty area to get the fourth after 64 minutes.

It was as poor as it could get for Pompey, who have a lot to do to pick themselves up for a big week starting against Spurs on Sunday.

Enough is enough. I've seen some shockers in my time, Scott McGarvey, Kenny Black, Iain Baird....but not one of them comes close to Utaka for total lack of effort. The NEWS needs to run a vote and see how many Pompey fans want him out. Forget your lame "which formation is best" polls, do something which might hit harry with some honest truths. Utaka is a disgrace and needs to go. If it means buying him out his contract, do it. Just get rid.

I agree thommo. They've changed the whole foremat. I used to enjoy watching all the old clips, best goals, interviews etc. Now you can't even listen to the match.

Spurs pick up their first win, just before they play us. Man City can't even beat Brighton. Bad night all round!

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
