Pompey warmed-up for their Wembley reunion with a thumping victory over Havant & Waterlooville.
Harry Redknapp's side were not as strong as that which featured against Oxford United 24 hours earlier.

Nonetheless, it was still an impressive display from his mixture of first-teamers and reserves at a packed West Leigh Park.

Ben Sahar opened
the scoring on seven minutes when he latched onto a throughball from Arnold Mvuemba.

The on-loan striker made it two on 36 minutes when he smartly headed home Glen Little's right-wing cross.

Pompey emphatically sealed their victory with two goals in the last three minutes as Mvuemba's powerful drive and Glen Johnson's angled strike inflated the scoreline.

For the Hawks it was a worthy run out ahead of Saturday's Conference South opener at St Albans.

For Pompey, their next match is back at Wembley for a clash with Manchester United in the Community Shield.

Pompey: Ashdown, Johnson, Hreidarsson, Primus, Wilson, Little, Hughes, Davis, Mvuemba, Sahar, Utaka
Substitutes *46mins: Richard Duffy **73mins: Jean-Francois Christophe. Subs not used: Paris, Cowan, Hall.

Another "News" rediculous headline. "Pompey warmed-up for their Wembley reunion with a thumping victory over Havant & Waterlooville". Most of those who played last night will be lucky to warm the bench on Sunday!! Why can't they just tell it as it is, i.e a runout for the reserves! No wonder there is so much speculation about transfers!

Other than Johnson this was a reserve team playing. I cant believe nugent wasnt playing surely a sign harry wants him out.
Sahar could be an incredible signing with his pace

right lads, if you had of gone to the game, then you would clearly know who was playing and who wasnt. you would even know that Nugent is injured and him not playing isnt a sign that Harry wants him out.

Ashdown, Johnson, Primus, Hreideson, Wilson, Little, Hughes, Davis, Muvemba, Sahar and Utaka were the startin players from last night...

Jean-Francois Christophe and Richard Duffy were the only subs that came on.

----------

Of the starting eleven at West Leigh Park, Johnson, Hreiðarsson and Utaka will start at Wembley.

The others could be on the pitch for as much as half the match - if other recent Community Shields are anything to go by - so it's not a complete waste of time for 'reserves' to play.

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
