Jordan Cross brings you the latest action from Fratton Park.
Pompey 0 Chelsea 4 FT

Wholesale changes for Pompey tonight as injuries bite hard. Richard Hughes, Noe Pamarot and Arnold Mvuemba are in for their first starts with Harry Redknapp apparently opting for a 4-5-1 formation.

Chelsea respect Pompey and the Carling Cup by fielding a powerful line-up including the likes of John Terry. Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

Pompey: James, Johnson, Distin, Pamarot, Hreidarsson, Kaboul, Utaka, Hughes, Mvuemba, Belhadj, Crouch. Subs: Ashdown, Defoe, Little, Kanu, Traore A, Traore D, Wilson.

Chelsea: Cech, Belletti, Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Bridge, Lampard, Ballack, Malouda, Kalou, Drogba. Subs: Cudicini, Di Santo, Mikel, Sinclair, Ferreira, Mancienne, Stoch.

00: Pompey kick off.

02: Didier Drogba serves notice of his intentions by whistling a shot just wide from 25 yards after being teed up by Ballack.

03: A chance for Pompey as Utaka skips away from Bridge and crosses for Crouch, but it's just behind the striker and he fails to make contact.

05: Ballack is booked for a blatant block on Hreidarsson.

06: It's a high tempo start and Crouch's head falls to Pamarot just a couple of yards out but a Chelsea leg nips the ball away, the Frenchman then smashes a shot into the side-netting. That's got Fratton Park rocking.

13: A gilt-edged chance for Chelsea. Lampard dinks a ball over the head of Distin to put Kalou in the clear, the Ivory Coast international steadies himself but then fires his drive wide of the post with James' goal gaping.

20: A big defensive header from Distin stops Bridge's cross being met by Drogba a few yards out, the ball is fed to Belletti whose shot is wayward.

29: Hughes angles a ball to Crouch who nods back to Belhadj 20 yards out but the Algerian thumps his shot over.

GOAL! 36: Controversy as Chelsea take the lead from the penalty spot. Michael Ballack goes to ground in the box as Belhadj leaves out a leg, but Pompey are fuming with the award of the spot-kick arguing there was no contact and Hreidarsson is booked for his protests. Lampard ignores all that and sends James the wrong way from the spot.

42: A big saving tackle from Hughes denies Drogba as he is about to put Chelsea two up from a couple of yards.

GOAL! 45: A killer second for Chelsea as Kalou finds Malouda in space away from Johnson in the box and thumps a low drive past James.

Half-time: Pompey 0 Chelsea 2.

46: Chelsea restart the game.

47: A free-kick to Pompey 25 yards out but Kaboul's thump is blocked.

GOAL! 48: Chelsea have a surreal third. The ball is whipped in from the right by Kalou, James looks to gather but the ball ricochets off Lampard and trickles over the line. Silence reigns before the away supporters realise what has happened and celebrate.

50: Hughes beats Belletti to the ball but is bizarrely booked for his troubles.

GOAL! 64: It's another embarrassing mauling for the Blues as Chelsea grab a fourth. Solomon Kalou is given thre freedom of the penalty area to roll the ball past James on the near post. Dreadful.

69: Belhadj and Crouch are replaced by Armand Traore and Kanu. Ferreira replaces Ballack for Chelsea.

74: Sinclair replaces Lampard.

79: Di Santo replaces Drogba.

80: Wilson replaces Hughes.

90: Two minutes of stoppage time.

Full-time: Pompey 0 Chelsea 4.

This is riduculous, there is no reason for any Premiership side, no matter which of their first team players are on the pitch, to lose to this ammount of goals. If everytime we have a slight injury worry we lose a game we are not gonna make it thru this season.

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
